The only thing constant is change

Policies are changing, teachers are leaving, and a new building is coming soon.

With this year at a close, many of the staff at PHU are working to adjust to the changes for the 2014-2015 school year.

Next year, several adjustments are being put into action. Instead of six week grading periods, the entirety of Pinellas County is converting to nine week terms. Mixed feelings about this change flooded the campus. Some think it will be beneficial towards students and teachers alike, and some say that it will hinder the system.

Also coming next year is a change in exam exemptions. The chance to exempt a class exam will not be available anymore. Every class is required to have an End Of Course exam. Students are upset that their big motive for not missing school and keeping up grades has been terminated.

Another change is the staff that is leaving at the end of this year. For example, Mr. Howard, the theatre master, is retiring this year. He is going to travel the country with his wife in an RV. He’s led students to find and show their incredible talent on stage. Many students are sad to see him go. No one can ever take his place.
