Oh, the places you’ll go this spring

You have one week to do something exciting, what are you going to do?

Spring break is a popular time for students to go on vacation with their families. Some students go above and beyond during the break, fitting trips to other countries in a one-week window. International travel is what many people dream of, a chance to see the world a piece at a time. For students, spring break is essential time away from the sometimes monotonous school schedule.

“I’m going to Hawaii for spring break,” IB Sophomore Nicole Langschwager said. “[My family and I] are going to go scuba diving with manta rays, exploring the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, and we’re going kayaking on one of the rivers.

When students go on vacation, they are exposed to a different environment and culture. Knowledge and understanding of others’ cultures is an important aspect of our international world.

“I like exotic vacations because I like seeing the different things the world has to offer,” Langschwager said. “I’d love to go to the Galapagos Islands or somewhere in the heart of Europe.”

Some parents are afraid of taking their children too far from home; they think that other places might not be as safe and friendly as our community here in Palm Harbor. However, everyone should try to save money to go on a family vacation. It does not matter how far away you go, only that you spend quality time with your family and experience new things.

“I think it is good for kids to start exploring the world at a young age,” Langschwager said. “Because there is so much to learn and see outside of the same old, same old.”
