The candles shone brighter than any city on Earth. On Monday, Jan. 9, over 200 family members, friends, teammates, and teachers gathered at Kapok Park in Safety Harbor to mourn over the loss of Palm Harbor alumnus, Logan Kushner.Loved ones reminisced as they placed candles along the bank of the creek and on the water. Wrestlers united and walked down together to place their candles on the ground and say their farewells. Coaches, players, and health aides were given the opportunity to sign Kushner’s retired football jersey, number 7; football players signed the front and wrestlers signed the back.A memory book and board were available for friends and family to sign. Last, but not least, a shrine was assembled with pictures, candles, flowers, and small memorabilia (Steak and Shake hats and cars, Journey’s lanyards, and a football glove), all representing who Logan was as a person.
Beloved, honored, and missed; Logan Kushner left an impact with all those he encountered. Even though the candles eventually burned to the end of their wicks, the bright light that was his life will continue to shine.
